Going camping with friends, family or by yourself is a unique experience that takes

you away from everyday life. It is the perfect time to unwind and de-stress by

listening to the wildlife and breathing in the fresh air.

Other than just being truly enjoyable, camping has many health benefits for both

adults and young people which most people aren’t aware of.

Stress reduction

When you are camping, there is no pressure to be at a certain place for a certain

time, no work deadlines or cleaning that needs to be done around the house. This is

your time to do what you want to do without being interrupted by the usual hustle and

bustle of life.

You can’t find relaxation like this anywhere else, camping forces you to rest and

relax and do activities that are out of your usual routine. If you are feeling stressed at

work or in your personal life, book a weekend away to get some well-deserved rest,

you’ll go back to normal life feeling well rested and ready to get started.

Relationship building

We’ve all seen them movie scenes where a dad takes their kids camping in order to

bond with them, and although it may seem cheesy to watch it is actually a great way

to build relationships with others.

One of the best aspects of camping is that everything that needs to be done, is

better done in a team. From putting up the tent, to cooking edible meals in the open,

it is a great experience if you are wanting to build stronger bonds with people.

You get a chance to talk into the night and discuss random topics around the fire.

You will be able to get to know others better and open up about yourself too to build

strong and lasting relationships.

Activities you do whilst camping are also great ways to build up bonds, like water

sports and fishing. These are all things which can be great fun to do and also you will

all be able to build up incredible memories that will last a life-time.

Got someone you want to bond with more? Book a trip to Shilla Mill campsite to

make a bond that will last forever.

Unplugging

Camping is the perfect opportunity for everyone to switch off and unplug from the

real world and the online world. A lot of time spent everyday is on your phone and

camping gives you that space to remove them stressful factors from your day.

Leave behind the TV’s, computers, and tablets, they will be waiting for you for when

you get back. Camping can be done completely without electronics and that way you

can clear your mind and enjoy nature.

It is also an amazing way to bond, as mentioned before camping is a great bonding

experience and you wouldn’t want technology to stand in the way of that.

It is good to step away from technology when you can, and camping is a great place

to do that. Shut off your phone for the weekend and focus on yourself and the people

you are with!

Great food

One of the best things about camping is the incredible food that you can make in the

outdoors. There is always the option to drive or walk down to a pub, but it just isn’t

the same as whipping your BBQ out and making some delicious burgers for

everyone to enjoy.

Cooking whilst your camping just tastes so much better and it can be a lot healthier

for you too as you don’t have access to unlimited snacks at your fingertips.

You can teach yourself proper cooking skills or pass them onto your children or

family to help them grow, as you will have their full attention (especially if they

phones have been switched off).

There is something so different from cooking whilst away and cooking at home. The

atmosphere, the food, the fire, it is the setup to a perfect weekend!

Physical fitness

If you have been camping before then you will know the exhaustion of putting up a

tent that you were convinced would be an easy setup or going to collect some wood

for the fire and carrying back a mountain of heavy wood. It is a relaxing experience,

but you are most likely going to get some physical fitness too!

The hikes and walks around campsites are beautiful and you definitely need to check

out the surrounding areas of Shilla Mill as they are gorgeous!

When you are stuck at home or work then physical fitness can get lost and other

activities are seemed to be a higher priority, but when you are camping you can’t

help but want to go and explore the new area.

Shilla Mill has the best places to go for a walk. Take a look at the streams and the

wonderful beach which offers water activities you can book. It is definitely a trip that

you should take, and you won’t regret it.

No alarm clocks!

Camping means no more horrible alarms that wake you up in the morning! Sounds

like heaven!

When you are camping the only form of alarm clock you will have is the sun and the

singing birds. Waking up amongst the nature is far more appealing that being blasted

by your alarm clock every morning, and you can’t hit snooze on the sun!

Camping can actually help you to improve your sleeping patterns as you can’t

hibernate until the afternoon, the birds are too busy singing from the morning and the

sun will be shining ready to welcome you to your perfect day at the campsite.

Book your next camping trip today!

Camping is a great experience for all of the family, it is perfect if you want to relax on

your own or have a laugh with your friends too. No matter the reason, there are so

many great health benefits of coming camping and we would love to see your smiling

fresh faces here at Shilla Mill.
